Moroso "Frame-shift", Bookshelves

Frame-Shift is the new Moroso bookcase designed by architects Oscar and Gabriele Buratti. An essential system, composed of a very small number of elements which are repeated by vertical superposition to form compositions from which the horizontality of the shelves stands out.

“Spaced and superimposed horizontal lines draw a structure made of levels. These accommodate sliding walls and backrests which can be placed and moved at will to cover or reveal closed or open compartments,” explain Oscar and Gabriele Buratti. “The magic of sliding doors characterizes this piece of furniture in all its variations, while the sophisticated design of the double-sided rail is the technical aspect that underlines its elegance.”

From a typological point of view, the piece of furniture has great flexibility: the idea is to have up to 5 superimposed floors, supported by a light and open metal box, so as to be able to offer different proposals for functions and types. The structure can be equipped with sliding closing panels on both sides, so it can be placed against the wall or placed in the center of the room. Frame-Shift can be composed extremely freely to structure the spaces of the home in a varied and articulated way. For example, with two levels we will have a low cabinet or a TV cabinet base; with three it can become a chest of drawers or a piece of furniture to place behind a sofa. You can go up to four or five levels to form a large bookcase that can be placed against a wall or used as a divider in the center of the room. In these compositions, transparency and the play between full and empty, where we conceal while revealing, are essential elements of the system.

The finish of the shelves is always in wood, while the longitudinal profiles are in extruded aluminum. The closing panels are available in two glossy lacquer variants, black and white, in two matt lacquer colors, Shell and Agate, and in Stopsol Silver glass.
